What I Learned from GroSocial
I had a call this morning with the team from GroSocial. They are partnering with my client, NPE. GroSocial demoed their tool for the NPE team. I learned a ton during the call today. Here are some highlights.
(Soon, we’ll tell you a bit more about the GroSocial / NPE partnership!)
Peoples eyes are typically drawn to these boxes
When people look at your personal or fan page, they stare at these 2 – 4 ‘tab’ boxes. People want to see what you’ve liked, your photos, events, etc. GroSocial cited some heat mapping studies on this.
This is a great place to add tools that people can engage with. Things like photos, videos, events, contests, opt in’s for offers, etc. And of course, everyone likes to see how many people ‘Like’ you too.
There are more than a billion likes everyday on Facebook
‘Like’ is the currency of Facebook. It’s very valuable information. As an individual user, be conscious of what you are liking. That is accessible data. You’ll probably see different marketing based on your likes. (Your mother can see it to. So think twice about liking that new pic of Kate Upton)
For a business, you can purchase advertising from Facebook geared towards your specific target audience. Facebook is probably the easiest and most cost effective place to advertise directly to your target group. If you’re going to try media buying, I suggest starting with Facebook.
If you’d like to ‘Like’ my page, I invite you to do so here. Don’t worry, I’m not running any adds. All you get is good solid info!
Contests are one of the best ways to create engagement on Facebook
People get crazy about contests! The GroSocial team was telling us about a contest someone ran on Facebook where they were giving away a small gift card. Some contestants were going door to door to their neighbors asking them to like their page in the contest. They wanted to win that bad!
Some great contest ideas: photo contest, which do you like better, give reward for hitting a ‘Like’ goal. This is a great way to learn more about your audience Also, if run right, you can also get more email addresses to market too. (GroSocial can help with that!)
Which brings me to …
Get Data from your peeps
Meaning, get contact info! One of the most valuable assets you have as a business owner is the contact list of your prospects & buyers. Collect this info is an many places as you can. Then store it in a CRM. I highly recommend Infusionsoft.
GroSocial’s tool will allow you to collect email address during a contest, then drop that info directly into Infusionsoft. Infusionsoft then turns on automated email messages engaging your contact. Ahh … automation is a thing of beauty!
Average person on Facebook has 120 friends
Really? That’s it? If you’re going to use Facebook, really use it! Create relationships. Engage! That’s kinda the point of this whole social media thing.
